56 days back into running and things seem to be heading in the right direction. My hip pain seems to be limited to manifesting itself when I don't massage the quad for a few days.
I've done two sessions of hill strides, and two tempo runs. Last night I ended up getting in around 4.5 miles in 24:42 on the C&O canal from Georgetown with a friend. I've still got a ways to go with regards to my fitness, but the weekly 5 mile increase and long run increase of a mile seems to be working well.
I'm planning on racing two fast 10k's before the year is over. It would be nice if I could get a PR out of the distance this fall. In the interest of being conservative, my next crack at the marathon will not come until next March.
In other news I have recently gotten engaged, and the constant support of my significant other has made surgery and the return to running a much more bearable process. I think that being happy in many areas external to my running allows me to have a balanced approach and not be as emotionally tied to individual results.
